One of the most frustrated things that you have to face ,is when you have too many tracks in a mix and you can’t manage them right! Something that will help you and make your life much easier ,is group channels! It is a track where you can import a number of instruments on the same category such as guitars, and you can edit all these in this one track.
Let’s see how it works. For example we have a project with 4 tracks acoustic guitar , one track piano ,5 tracks of strings ,drums and bass. The first thing we have to do is to create group channels or tracks ,as they are called to various DAW’s. In Cubase in Project menu we select Add track and the submenu Group channel. A window pops up and we can choose how many group channels we want for our project.

In today’s example we create 3 group channels. The first one is for the guitars, the second for the strings and the third for drums. On the top of the mixer there is information about input and output of each instrument. As you can see in the picture below ,all tracks have the same output, master out. Once I press on output I have the option to change the output and I will first send the signal to the group channel I want. This way I am sending all guitar tracks to the specific group channel.

This way we can manage all tracks very easily with only one track. We can edit the group channel adding EQ,compressor and everything you need and of course you can adjust the volume of guitars from this track.
We are doing the same thing and with other group channels. It’s very useful and you can easily manage multiple tracks.
